Youth for Human Rights International 2nd Annual Youth Summit Delegate Profile: Liberia
September 30, 2005
Twenty-year-old Thomas Mitchell has been very active in caring for his fellow youth. He recently formed the first Youth for Human Rights Chapter in Liberia and serves as its Executive Director. He is actively involved with groups such as Youth Against Child Rights Abuse, a human rights and literacy program for youth which has helped citizens who have been displaced by civil war in Liberia.
Mr. Mitchell said "Participating in the International Youth Summit will be very exciting. I am sure that this summit -- which will bring together youth from many different countries -- will be highly educational and informative for the participants, especially youth like me who are focusing on human rights and global development. I know it will help me to bring about change in my country."
Young leaders from 30 countries arrive in Los Angeles this week to participate in the 2nd annual Youth for Human Rights International Summit, which takes place this year at Jordan High School in Los Angeles. The summit has been co-organized by Jordan High School and Youth for Human Rights International. It is being held October 1-3, 2005.
